Pounding (or Blessing) for our new called workers

Sounds painful, but it’s quite the opposite. The term “pounding” comes from a long tradition of helping newly arrived called workers.  Congregational members would donate a “pound” of household necessities such as flour, sugar, coffee, canned food, etc.  A “pounding” is a way to welcome and help our new called church workers who are arriving in July.

We are expanding our pounding to include pantry items, cleaning supplies, and gift cards. Listed below are items that we are asking members of Faith Lutheran Church and School to donate for our three new called workers, Katie Onnen, Emily Brenner, and Gerald Brenner.  Next Sunday, June 23, the items will be posted on the back-narthex windows.  Just take one or more of the posted items, return with the items, and place them in the storage bins below the notes. (Gift cards will be collected from the bins each week and kept in the school office until given to the called workers.)  It’s quite simple, but it will make a world of difference in making Katie, Emily, and Gerald feel welcomed at Faith.

Please join with us in making our new called worked feel at home and a part of our Faith family.
