Pastor Carl: Peace In A troubled World

This sermon talks about the words of Jesus to the apostles on the last days. The apostles were troubled because they did not know the crucifixion was coming soon. The same words apply to our own lives today and can give us peace.

The sermon notes are important because there are many references to the words during this sermon.

Sermon Notes are included here:

Peace for Troubled Hearts

The Sixth Sunday of Easter - May 1, 2016

John 13:1 (NIV) It was just before the Passover Feast.
Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this
world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who
were in the world, he now showed them the full extent
of his love.

John 13:21 (ESV) After saying these things, Jesus was
troubled in his spirit, and testified, “Truly, truly, I say to
you, one of you will betray me.”

John 13:33 (ESV) Little children, yet a little while I am
with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews,
so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot
come.’

John 15:13 (ESV) Greater love has no one than this,
that someone lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:18 (ESV) “If the world hates you, know that it
has hated me before it hated you.

John 16:2-4 (ESV) 2 They will put you out of the syna-
gogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills
you will think he is offering service to God. 3 And they
will do these things because they have not known the
Father, nor me. 4 But I have said these things to you,

that when their hour comes you may remember that I
told them to you. “I did not say these things to you from
the beginning, because I was with you.

John 16:32 (ESV) Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it
has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own
home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the
Father is with me.

John 16:4-6 (ESV) 4 But I have said these things to you,
that when their hour comes you may remember that I
told them to you. “I did not say these things to you from
the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I am go-
ing to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where
are you going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to
you, sorrow has filled your heart… Truly, truly, I say to you,
you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You
will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. John
16:4-6, 20 (ESV)

up to the present time. Romans 8:20-22 (NIV)
