We really need the Holy Spirit

Pentecost - May 15, 2016 Carl Schneider, Pastor

Deuteronomy 16:16 (NIV) Three times a year all your
men must appear before the LORD your God at the place
he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the
Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Tabernacles. No man
should appear before the LORD empty-handed:

Acts 2:5 (NIV) Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-
fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.

Acts 2:1 (NIV) When the day of Pentecost came, they
were all together in one place.

Acts 2:11 (NIV) “declaring the wonders of God in our own
tongues!"

Acts 2:14 (NIV) Then Peter stood up with the Eleven,
raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews
and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to
you; listen carefully to what I say.

Matthew 10:19-20 (NIV) At that time you will be given
what to say, 20 for it will not be you speaking, but the
Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Acts 2:37 (NIV) They were cut to the heart and said to
Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we
do?"

Acts 2:38-39 (NIV) 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be bap-
tized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of
the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children

and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God
will call."

We know not all accepted Peter’s word, but

Acts 2:41 (NIV) Those who accepted his message were bap-
tized, and about three thousand were added to their num-
ber that day.

Romans 8:26-27 (NIV) the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit
himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot ex-
press. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind
of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in
accordance with God's will.

Ephesians 6:13 (NIV) “…put on the full armor of God, so

This week look up the Scripture references and start a
conversation with God, Your Father. You need the pres-
ence and power of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Father for
the Holy Spirit to fill you in Jesus’ name. Amen
