God’s Plan

Today’s text: Hebrews 11:8-13 (NIV)

8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later

receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he

did not know where he was going. 9 By faith he made his home

in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he

lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him

of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city

with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11 By faith

Abraham, even though he was past age--and Sarah herself was

barren--was enabled to become a father because he considered

him faithful who had made the promise. 12 And so from this one

man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous

as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the sea-

shore. 13 All these people were still living by faith when they

died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw

them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted

that they were aliens and strangers on earth.

The Upper Story from week 1 was about God’s creation of the

world in ________, which was damaged by mankind’s

wrongdoing, or what we all refer to as sin, which God used to

introduce His great salvation ________ of a coming messiah who

would save them from their sins.

The Lower Story, of week 1 was how God the heavens and the earth and everything else, along with Adam and Eve.

But then Adam and Eve ate the fruit that they weren’t supposed to

and introduced ________ and ________ into the world.

Your story, is how the message of ________ the upper and the

lower story came together to help you see God’s ________ in

your life.

Look up: The Story, page 13. (If you do not have your book with

you, read Genesis 12:2-3.)

The Upper Story this week is that God ________ a man through

whom He would cause His plan of ________ to be manifested.

The Lower Story is how God took and

through those many years of travel and patience to the point

where they finally had the child of God’s ________.

How can I know what God’s plan for me is?

What is My Story in God’s Plan?

Here are three things that we can do to better understand God’s plan

for our lives:

1. Read God’s word, daily

2. Pray for God’s guidance, daily

Seek godly counsel from Christian brothers and sisters
