Walk In Obedience Week 13

November 13, 2016 Rev. Tom Boeck, Associate Pastor

1 Kings 2:2-4 (NIV) 2 “I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said.

“So be strong, act like a man, 3 and observe what the Lord your God re-

quires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands,

his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that

you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go 4 and that the Lord

may keep his promise to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live,

and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you

will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.”

Deuteronomy 7:1a, 3-4 (NIV) “When the Lord your God brings you into

the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many

nations… 3 Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to

their sons or take their daughters for your sons, 4 for they will turn

your children away from following me to serve other gods, and

the Lord’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you.”

Hebrews 6:4-6 (NIV) “4 It is impossible for those who have once been

enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the

Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the

powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought

back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all

over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.”

Matthew 19:26(NIV) “26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this

is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Hebrews 6:9-12(NIV) 9 Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we

are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do

with salvation. 10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work

and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and

continue to help them. 11 We want each of you to show this same dili-

gence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.

12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who

through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

. The Lower Story was about Solomon’s rise to power, his

worship of other gods and his subsequent fall from God’s

_favor.

. In the Upper Story, God uses the situation with Solomon to

continue his plan of _salvation_ and to remain _faithful_

to his promise to David, by maintaining the royal line of

succession to ensure the line of the _messiah_, who would

come to save the entire world!

. In Our Story, we see the times that we have _fallen_ away

from God, but we also see that through _Jesus_ and His

saving grace, we can be _forgiven_.

If you’re feeling yourself being drawn away from God by

your daily life or the world around you, _call_ on the Lord.

__receive_ the salvation that He has so generously given

you through His Son Jesus!
